As taped: 300 PRC is a modern cartridge that is efficient and precise thanks to tighter tolerances and solid case fill \u2014 increasingly a hunting cartridge, and still a fantastic long-range target round.<\/p>\n<p>If you want a chassis rifle in 300 PRC, the short list as taped was basically three: the RPR we already covered on the channel, a Christensen precision rifle, and this Savage Elite Precision. I waited over <strong>10 months<\/strong> for this sample. Worth it? That is what the tape answers.<\/p>\n<h2>Savage 110 bones, Elite Precision skin<\/h2>\n<p>The Elite Precision sits between a normal factory rifle and boutique\/gunsmith work. Shared 110 DNA as taped:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Savage 110 action<\/strong> (short and long actions both wear the 110 name now)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two-lug, 90\u00b0 bolt<\/strong> with Savage\u2019s floating-bolt lockup idea (cheaper to make; gives mass-production wiggle room for lockup)<\/li>\n<li>User-adjustable <strong>AccuTrigger<\/strong> (bladed) \u2014 roughly <strong>1.5\u20134 lb<\/strong> as discussed<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tang-mounted three-position safety<\/strong> \u2014 nicer than a cross-bolt and easier than a side lever for thumb operation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Where models diverge: stock\/chassis, barrel length\/contour\/flute, scope base, and caliber. Short-action chamberings (6mm\/6.5 Creedmoor, .223, .308) lean PRS-style run-and-gun; the <strong>300 Win Mag \/ 338 Lapua \/ 300 PRC<\/strong> long-action guns lean heavy precision \/ ELR.<\/p>\n<h2>MDT ACC chassis (the real upgrade)<\/h2>\n<p>Instead of a polymer stock, Savage dropped the 110 barreled action into an <strong>MDT ACC chassis<\/strong> with a modular stock \u2014 not a house chassis like some competitors. Highlights as taped:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-length <strong>ARCA rail<\/strong> for bipods, bags, barricade stops, chronograph accessories, tripod work \u2014 often tool-free swaps<\/li>\n<li>User-adjustable <strong>MDT vertical grip<\/strong> (fore\/aft LOP via two screws)<\/li>\n<li>Buttstock adjustable for <strong>length of pull<\/strong> and <strong>comb height<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>M-LOK under the stock for bag rider \/ monopod (this sample wore an adjustable bag rider)<\/li>\n<li>Not an AR buffer-tube stock \u2014 swapping the butt needs an adapter (and can grow LOP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also included: a scope base I believed was <strong>20 MOA<\/strong> on tape (I wished aloud for a 30\/40 MOA + bubble-level option like Anarchy short-action bases).<\/p>\n<h2>Barrel, weight, magazine, price (as taped)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Short-action Elite Precisions: heavy-contour <strong>26&#8243;<\/strong> barrels<\/li>\n<li>Long-action (this 300 PRC): heavy-contour <strong>30&#8243;<\/strong> \u2014 longer than the RPR\u2019s 24\/26&#8243; class, for keeping bullets supersonic farther<\/li>\n<li>Short-action guns: self-timing muzzle brake included; <strong>long-action magnums: threaded muzzle, no brake in the box<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Weight: long-action ~<strong>14.9 lb<\/strong> (about 3 oz under a magnum RPR as compared on tape) \u2014 not a hunting rifle<\/li>\n<li>ACC can take internal\/external weights (forend + butt) \u2014 up to roughly <strong>+7.8 lb<\/strong> of add-on mass as discussed<\/li>\n<li>One <strong>AICS-pattern<\/strong> magazine in the box<\/li>\n<li>MSRP as taped: about <strong>$2,199<\/strong> long action \/ <strong>$1,999<\/strong> short action<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Range: smooth action, real recoil, half-inch groups<\/h2>\n<p>Shot largely stock aside from an Accu-Tac bipod and adjustable bag rider \u2014 no muzzle brake yet because Savage did not include one on the long-action. First impressions as taped:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Action felt <strong>smooth<\/strong> (factory blueprinted talk checks out in the hand)<\/li>\n<li>Extraction stayed clean even on hotter-feeling loads<\/li>\n<li>Wish list live on the line: <strong>bigger\/longer bolt knob<\/strong>; AccuTrigger is usable with little creep, but the blade is still a blade \u2014 a proper two-stage without the blade would be nicer on a dedicated range gun<\/li>\n<li>Stock adjusters work, but knobs had a habit of loosening; cheek weld is fine but not the oversized \u201cskeleton carbine\u201d shelf some MDT stocks have<\/li>\n<li>Grip is upright; I preferred a thumb-shelf feel and planned an <strong>Anarchy Outdoors Penguin grip<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Accuracy: factory loads after a handload break-in \u2014 a stacked ~<strong>\u00bd&#8221;<\/strong> three-shot, and a five-shot still <strong>under an inch<\/strong> (one slightly pulled). Half a mil high on one string, but the rifle was printing<\/li>\n<li>After ~10 rounds without a brake, shoulder notice was real; barrel got golden hot \u2014 cool-down discipline applies even at 15 lb<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With a bag rider plus a good brake (or suppressor) and some external weight, this is an easy mental path to King of 1 Mile \/ ELR-style matches \u2014 not a \u201cstock hunting gun\u201d fantasy.<\/p>\n<h2>What is still missing vs the RPR<\/h2>\n<p>For ~$2,200 MSRP (as taped), the chassis and long heavy barrel are the value. The gaps vs a 300 PRC RPR out of the box:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>No muzzle brake<\/strong> on the big magnum chamberings (short-action Elite Precisions get one; cheaper Savage precision SKUs sometimes do too)<\/li>\n<li><strong>One-piece bolt handle\/knob<\/strong> \u2014 not threaded for aftermarket knobs, and not even the nicer long knob from the 110 Tactical<\/li>\n<li><strong>AccuTrigger blade<\/strong> on a gun that lives car \u2192 bench \u2192 prone, not a drop-prone hunting rifle \u2014 aftermarket triggers exist; a factory upgrade would match the \u201celite\u201d name better<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The RPR already ships with a big tunable brake, a generous MOA rail, and a threaded bolt handle. You can take that gun and go. On the Savage, budget a brake\/suppressor and a better bolt knob early \u2014 then enjoy the nicer chassis platform.<\/p>\n<h2>Bottom line<\/h2>\n<p>Is the Elite Precision 300 PRC right for you? If you want a <strong>range-ready semi-custom<\/strong> without spending $3,000+ on a true bespoke build \u2014 <strong>yes<\/strong>, it is a viable starting point. Is it as plug-and-play as a 300 PRC Ruger Precision Rifle? <strong>No<\/strong> \u2014 you will want a muzzle device and, soon, a better bolt handle\/knob. Overall it is still strong value when you price the MDT ACC chassis and the 30&#8243; heavy barrel into the deal: a factory rifle that already did the expensive aftermarket steps, with a short list of common-sense finishing touches left for you.<\/p>\n<p><em>Keep squatting.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Are you team \u201cbuy the factory chassis magnum and finish it,\u201d or do you skip straight to a full custom action?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Some links are affiliates.
