Easy: take away a feature a bunch of you asked me to remove. This one is the <strong>Taurus G3C SR<\/strong> \u2014 same compact G3C platform, <strong>no external safety<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"NEW Taurus G3C SR - No External Safety - Ultimate Fix - Review - ShotShow 2022\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wtzeYVeiy3s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Gear I actually use: <a href=\"https:\/\/slav.li\/amazon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SlavGuns Amazon<\/a>. Despite quirks, Taurus still ships solid guns for the money, and the <strong>G3C<\/strong> sat in that under-~$300 compact lane as one of the best values: nicer grip than a lot of peers, fun and accurate, manageable recoil, usable for range and carry.<\/p>\n<p>After the <strong>GX4 \/ GX4 TORO<\/strong> launch, I honestly didn\u2019t expect Taurus to circle back and refresh the G3C. Glad they did. The GX4 didn\u2019t kill demand for a slightly larger compact \u2014 a lot of owners still prefer that size and value. And the comment section kept asking the same thing: <strong>G3C without the external safety<\/strong>. That\u2019s the SR.<\/p>\n<h2>What \u201cSR\u201d actually changes<\/h2>\n<p>This is a <strong>model variant<\/strong>, not a brand-new pistol \u2014 same idea as Ruger or Smith offering with\/without external safety. Big callout from the tape: <em>no external safety does not mean no safeties<\/em>. The G3C still has a <strong>striker block<\/strong> and a <strong>trigger safety<\/strong>, so the gun should only go bang when you pull the trigger (the usual \u201cdropped gun\u201d protection story). You also keep the <strong>external loaded chamber indicator<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise it\u2019s the same compact <strong>9mm<\/strong> we\u2019ve liked \u2014 about a <strong>12-round<\/strong> capacity platform with the familiar G3C controls and shootability. Jokingly, removing the lever also makes the old G2C \/ early-G3C \u201csafety looks on but trigger still works\u201d quirk impossible \u2014 because there\u2019s no lever left to mis-set. I still called that a quirk more than a real everyday safety crisis in the earlier video; SR just closes the door on it.<\/p>\n<h2>Range feel: thumbs-forward &amp; slide release<\/h2>\n<p>Cold range day, target at about <strong>12 yards<\/strong>. I shot my G3C <em>with<\/em> the safety first, then the SR. Trigger take-up and break felt the same. Recoil feel was the same. The difference is in the hands:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thumbs-forward grip:<\/strong> the thin G3C safety still digs into the support thumb; SR is clearly more comfortable<\/li>\n<li><strong>Slide release:<\/strong> the safety paddle sits in the way a bit; without it, running the slide release is easier<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you came from a 1911 \/ CZ-75 \u201cride the safety\u201d habit, that thumb perch isn\u2019t really there on a chunky G3C the same way \u2014 so for range shooting, SR matched my personal preference.<\/p>\n<h2>Check the sights on any sample<\/h2>\n<p>My first SR groups looked ugly until I compared POA\/POI to my known G3C. The SR sample was roughly <strong>~5\u2033 low and ~3\u2033 left<\/strong> at that distance \u2014 rear sight not drifted true even though it\u2019s the same sight family. Drift it (or have the shop do it) before you blame yourself. Same QC reminder I give on a lot of value pistols: verify zero before you leave the counter.<\/p>\n<h2>Bottom line \u2014 which G3C for you?<\/h2>\n<p>MSRP on tape for the G3C SR was <strong>$339.65<\/strong> \u2014 same as the base G3C at that time. Street tags move; confirm before you budget.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Range gun \/ occasional carry:<\/strong> I\u2019d highly consider the <strong>G3C SR<\/strong>. Comfortable thumbs-forward, easier slide work, same shooting gun.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary carry focus:<\/strong> I\u2019d still lean toward the <strong>regular G3C with the external safety<\/strong> if you can get it \u2014 especially for pocket carry. I\u2019m not a fan of a pre-cocked striker and roughly a five-pound trigger with nothing but clothing\/holster discipline between you and a bad day. Pocket carry needs a sturdy holster that fully protects the trigger either way; strong-side is a more open conversation, but my preference stays \u201ctrain the safety off on the draw\u201d when the option exists. \u201cBut Glocks don\u2019t have one\u201d is fair \u2014 and that\u2019s part of why I like that the standard G3C <em>does<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>If you already love the G3C and specifically wanted no paddle \u2014 or you\u2019re coming off a G2C and want this update \u2014 the SR is a terrific, well-priced choice for that job.<\/p>\n<p><em>Keep squatting.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Would you run G3C SR at the range with no paddle, or keep the external safety for carry?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Some links are affiliates.
