Hey there, channel fans and family, and welcome to another Slav Guns on tour. This time we’re at Palmetto State Armory’s The Gathering event, and I ran into a celebrity carrying what might be the flashiest shotgun on the whole range: Black Rambo and his white and gold AK shotgun.
Quick note: this is a short on-the-range interview from April 2023, not a SlavGuns range test or review. I didn’t shoot this gun for the video, and the gun itself is a one-off made for Black Rambo, so you can’t buy this exact one.
TL;DR
- What it is: an AK-style, magazine-fed 12 gauge with white furniture and gold metal, built specially for Black Rambo. Panzer Arms USA makes the AK12 shotgun it’s based on (his own posts at the time tagged it as a Panzer Arms AK12).
- Verdict from the man himself: “It’s an AK and it’s a shotgun and it’s spectacular.” They had been running slugs through it, which he called shooting “the big boy.”
- Can you buy it? Not this one. It was special made for him, and he said Panzer didn’t even sell the white version. The regular AK12 is out there, and he called it very affordable.
- Want something custom? His advice: hit Panzer up, and maybe they’ll make you a special one.
Why a gold AK shotgun?
I had to ask what prompted this, and what his special touch is. His answer was honest: he got tired of regular guns. He has so many that are just black, and he wants the most hooked-up guns in the world. Part of the plan, he joked, is getting noticed by the Call of Duty folks so he can end up in the game. And as he put it, he just likes dipping stuff.
Then came the line of the day: Saddam had his golden AK, Gaddafi had his golden AK, and now Black Rambo has his golden AK. Hard to argue with that lineup, although his is the only one of the three that’s a 12 gauge.
Of course I had to try to talk him into setting me up with one. My only request was some black tape stripes down the side for that Slav look. He warned me I could get myself in trouble with that idea. We settled on three stripes. You know why.
The gun underneath the gold
We didn’t get into specs on camera, so here’s what Panzer Arms USA lists for the standard AK12 it’s based on. Panzer describes it as an AK-style, magazine-fed, semi-auto 12 gauge made in Turkey, with:
- 18.5″ barrel, 40″ overall length
- 5+1 capacity, shipped with two 5-round magazines
- Full, Modified and Cylinder choke tubes
- A milled receiver (not stamped sheet metal) and a reinforced dust cover
- Saiga-compatible forend, stock and most Saiga magazines
- Side optic rail and bolt hold open
Black Rambo’s gun swaps the standard look for white furniture and gold-finished metal. That finish was made for him, so treat the specs above as the regular production gun, not his custom piece.
Price and availability
When I asked about price and where to get one, he was clear: this one isn’t for sale, and the white version wasn’t even sold. For the standard gun, he pointed people to the Panzer website and called them very affordable. “I ain’t gonna say cheap,” he said, “they’re very affordable.”
If you want the regular black Panzer AK12 today, you can check it at GrabAGun or KYGUNCO. Stock and state shipping rules change, so check the listing for your area.
Where to find Black Rambo
He’s at Black Rambo TV on YouTube and Instagram, and you can catch him on Swamp People on the History Channel.
More from the PSA world and AK-style shotguns
This wasn’t my first trip to The Gathering. Check out the Rugged Razor 556 from PSA Gathering 2022. For PSA’s own AK plans from that same year, see my look back at Soviet Arms, the 300 Blackout AK and the Sabre AR line. If semi-auto shotguns are more your thing, read about the TriStar Viper G3. Running an AK rifle too? Here’s my take on XTech Tactical AK-47 magazines.
Bottom line
That’s a glam gun from a glam guy with a glam team. Under the white and gold, the AK12 is a magazine-fed, Saiga-compatible semi-auto 12 gauge. Black Rambo’s version just takes the “I don’t want another black gun” idea about as far as it goes. Remember, this was a quick interview at The Gathering, not a range review. The gear I actually run is in my Amazon picks.
