Squat Squad — I was walking the PSA booth at Shot Show 2024 filming other stuff and spotted a gun that looks purpose-built for movie henchmen. Meet the PSA X5.7, a PDW-style pistol concept built around their 5.7 Rock platform.

What it is
Per Max at the PSA booth: the X5.7 takes the 5.7 Rock fire-control unit and slide, adapts the package so you charge it with a standard AR-15 charging handle (they had a Radian Arms Raptor on the sample), and wraps it into a compact PDW-style pistol.

Why bother vs a 5.7 Rock pistol?
Longer barrels in this platform should squeeze more ballistic performance out of 5.7×28, with a more controllable, accessory-friendly package — optics, lights, lasers, and (if you SBR) vertical foregrips. PSA talked two configs at the booth: with brace and without, plus the possibility of a stock kit later for folks who want to go the SBR route.
Concept status & price target
This was a brand-new concept at Shot Show 2024 — Max said the idea was only about four weeks old and they prototyped fast to put it in front of people. Expected development was about a year (at least) before anything ships. Booth target price point: around $999.
At the time, PSA was polling concept guns at palmettostatearmory.com/shotshow2024 so customers could vote on priorities. Always check PSA’s current site for whatever actually made it to market since then — this writeup sticks to what was said on camera.
Bottom line
Cool-looking, attainable-priced PDW concept with real 5.7 Rock DNA and AR charging-handle ergonomics. If another John Wick sequel needs henchman iron, this aesthetic belongs in the prop locker. Watch the booth walkthrough for the full teaser.
