Squat Squad, welcome back to Slav Guns. When most people hear Mission First Tactical, they think magazines, and for good reason. MFT makes mags that keep up with a lot of the big names. But at the MFT booth at NRA 2024 I found something different: soft goods. Specifically, their ACHRO everyday carry bags, a sling and bigger backpacks built for people who carry a gun off-body or just haul their guns and gear to the range.
Quick note: this is an older video, filmed at the NRA Annual Meetings in May 2024. It’s a short booth first look, not a long-term carry test, so treat it as a walkthrough of what these bags do. Check MFT’s site for the current lineup.
TL;DR
- What it is: MFT’s ACHRO line of everyday carry bags, a sling pack and larger backpacks, each with a dedicated concealed carry compartment.
- The carry part: a back compartment for your CCW with a loop (hook-and-loop) panel, so a holster can grip the bag instead of your gun just bouncing around loose in there.
- The look: tactical where it counts, but low-key. MFT calls it the “gray man” approach.
- Weather: water resistant. Not waterproof. I’m not going to oversell that.
The ACHRO sling pack
I love sling bags for everyday carry, and this one is my favorite of the bunch. It goes right over your head and shoulder, and there’s a strap that secures it across your body. When you need in, you swing it around to the side and rip it open.
- CCW compartment in the back. Inside is a loop panel where you attach your holster, so the holster holds the gun in place. That beats dumping a pistol into a bag pocket.
- Quick-access pockets up front for the stuff you grab all day.
- Main compartment for everything else.
- MOLLE on the outside if you want to add pouches.
- Small touches. There’s a swivel on the strap, which is super dope, and it shows somebody actually thought about how you wear it.
On MFT’s site this is the ACHRO 10L EDC Sling Bag. It comes with their Multi-Mount Platform for mounting a holstered gun, and the strap works on either shoulder. There’s also a SLICK version without the laser-cut MOLLE if you want an even cleaner look, plus a smaller 5L sling.
The bigger ACHRO backpacks
If the sling is too small, the bigger ACHRO packs work the same way with a lot more room. At the booth I went through the larger pack:
- Pockets you can get to for magazines, your phone, and small items
- MOLLE panel on the front
- A front section that opens up for a bunch of extra magazines
- A big water bottle holder
- A spot for a ceramic plate
MFT currently lists the ACHRO backpacks in 22L and 30L sizes, in both laser-cut MOLLE and SLICK versions. Check the product pages for exact dimensions and what each one fits, because I’m not going to quote numbers I didn’t measure.
Tactical without looking tactical
This is the part I like most. If you’re a gun owner commuting to the range, or carrying through your day, you don’t necessarily want your bag to scream “gun guy.” These have the features of a tactical pack, but they look like a normal commuter bag. On the more low-profile versions, the zippers are better protected too. That’s the whole ACHRO idea. The name comes from “achromatic,” meaning without color, and the point is to blend in.
Who it’s for
- Off-body carriers who want a dedicated, organized gun compartment instead of a random pocket.
- Range commuters who want mags, ear pro, and small items organized in something that doesn’t attract attention.
- EDC people who already carry a sling or backpack every day and want one that does more.
One honest caveat: off-body carry means the gun is only as secure as the bag is close to you. A bag sitting on a chair across the room isn’t carry. If you go this route, keep it on you and practice getting the gun out of it.
Bottom line
MFT took what they know about building tough gear and put it into everyday carry bags that make sense. The sling is the one I’d grab. It’s compact, easy to swing around, and it has a real holster mounting setup. The bigger packs are for when you need to carry the whole range day. Again, this was a booth first look from NRA 2024, so see the full lineup on Mission First Tactical’s bags page. The rest of the gear I use is in my Amazon picks.
