What it is
After looking at some affordable nightstand storage options a few weeks before this tape, I reached out and Dalmbox sent their biometric under-the-desk / under-counter safe. Think office, desk, kitchen counter, or closet — not the bedside drawer unit. Steel box, designed to hang underneath a surface, with a drop-free open so you need clearance below it when it drops.
Three ways in

Do not stash the emergency keys inside the safe. If the batteries die, you’re stuck without them. Default combo on tape was 1-2-3-4 — change that immediately.
What’s in the box
Fairly secure packaging on tape. You get the safe, a mounting bracket that can go to either side, mounting screws, a set of batteries (four AA), and those two emergency keys. Open with a key first so you can install the batteries — battery compartment and reset button are under the lid once it’s open. Cover goes back on, safe powers up.
Programming combo and fingerprint
With the safe open: press and hold the reset button until you hear two beeps, release, enter any four-digit combo twice. Two beeps = set; five beeps = try again. Fingerprint setup is the same flow — hold reset for two beeps, place your finger until it beeps, done. On tape both combo and fingerprint opened clean once programmed.
Silent mode (your household will thank you)
The keypad is loud enough that my wife started giving me the riot act from upstairs while I was setting it up in the basement. Hold the 1 key for about three seconds to toggle silent mode on or off. Small feature, big quality-of-life win.
Fit: what actually fits
Padded interior. On tape it took most standard-size handguns from small to full-size without drama — full-size Glock, fine; Taurus G3C with a red dot, no issues. The only slight struggle called out was a long-slide double-stack 2011; might work with some foam fiddling, but don’t assume every long optic-ready race gun drops in perfectly. Measure your pistol + optic before you commit.
Bottom line
