Booth / first look: Shot Show 2023 walkthrough with Jake from Precision Armament on the Aeromod 22 Plus rimfire suppressor — not a range T&E or owned long-term review. Target MSRP, release timing, and caliber ratings are as taped at the show and may have moved; suppressors are NFA items — verify current specs, Form 4 path, and local law before you buy.
Channel fans and family — if you can shoot with a suppressor, it’s the polite thing to do, and you only get one set of ears. At Shot Show 2023 I finally got to a booth that was high on my list: Precision Armament, for a deep dive on their brand-new modular rimfire can, the Aeromod 22 Plus.

Aeromod 22 Plus — modular end to end
Jake’s pitch starts with the name: Aero for light / “air,” mod for modular, 22 Plus because it’s a .22-class can that also covers a bunch of related calibers. Completely modular top to bottom — take it apart any way you want, rearrange baffles, make it as long or as short as you need, and he claims you’ll still get the same repeatable POI shift and concentric stack.
The star of the show is the thread design: tri-centric / trilobular threads (think a triangle with rounded points). Negative spaces between the high points give carbon, dirt, and dust somewhere to go so the stack doesn’t carbon-lock, seize, or cross-thread. Jake was literally bashing baffle faces together on camera — the kind of demo that makes me cringe with most modular cans I’ve owned, where you undo the tube and the baffle “sack” comes off wrong, or you forget the order and it never goes back the same.
His line: you cannot put this together wrong. Missing a baffle, rearranged stack, dirty parts — still goes together. The only two parts that matter for orientation are the mount and the end cap. The mount is the only serialized piece. Warranty path on tape: send the whole can back; they’ll replace what’s needed and get it back out fast.
Stainless durability — not another soft aluminum .22 can
A lot of modular .22 cans lean titanium or aluminum — fine for a precision rimfire, not what you want when someone runs a belt-fed .22, a .22 WMR, or a 5.7×28 host. Jake called out about 4.7 oz of stainless (17-4 class on the booth talk) — light enough to live on a rimfire, hard enough that he was talking about vice-crimping baffles and having them reshape when you mash the stack back together.
R&D party tricks on tape: fill with dirt, mud, rocks, gravel, shake it out, hand-tighten, and it still stacks concentric. Claim is sealed-can-like performance once tightened, with sealed-can durability, while staying modular.
Hearing-safe configs, full-auto, and the caliber list
Hearing-safe at full baffle length, competitive with popular modular and sealed .22 cans on the booth pitch. For shorter backpack / pistol configs: Jake recommended a minimum of three baffles for hearing-safe on their current testing — shorter than that, plan on ear pro. Subsonics help; 5.7×28 is a different animal.
Caliber / rating claims as taped:
- Full-auto rated for the .22 family — .22 LR, .22 Mag / WMR, .17 HMR, and related rimfires; pistols and rifles
- 5.7×28 — yes for use; full-auto 5.7 not tested yet (Jake was transparent that it’s on the list, P90-class host talk included)
Warranty / customer policy: 100% satisfaction talk — baffle strikes, damage, “fix stupid,” the serialized mount is what goes back if they need to sort you out.
Price, release timing, and how you actually buy one (NFA)
At the show Jake was tentatively hoping for a summer 2023 release on the Aeromod 22 Plus once the tech was locked. Roadmap once the .22 is sound: scale the same idea up toward 9mm, .45, .223 / 5.56, and .30 cal — booth roadmap, not a promise that every size was already on a shelf.
Target MSRP south of $500, with dealer discounting in the mix. Individuals don’t walk away from the Precision Armament booth with a can in hand — NFA path through a dealer / SOT (order, Form 4, transfer). Dealers would be stocked / orderable; bigger suppressor retailers were also in the conversation.
