One Trigger to Rule Them All? PSA Unveils the Modular AXR PDW Line

What’s up, Squad! We are still on the floor at SHOT Show 2026, and we just stepped back into the Palmetto State Armory booth to look at a project that is going to change how you think about “buying a gun.”

We’re talking about the new PSA AXR PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) line. While the PDW concept—a compact, high-capacity firearm meant for discrete carry—isn’t new, PSA’s execution of it is completely revolutionary thanks to their new Modular Fire Control (MFC).

The PDW Concept: Your New “Bag Gun”

Rich from PSA walked us through the primary use case for this platform: the “backpack gun.” This is a pistol-brace-equipped setup designed to be thrown in a bag and deployed instantly if you find yourself in a “spicy situation.”

The standout feature of the chassis is the quick-deploy brace. With a simple pull, it locks into place, and with the press of a button, it collapses back down for storage. It’s a fast, handy response tool that bridges the gap between a standard handgun and a full-sized carbine.

The “Brain” of the System: Modular Fire Control (MFC)

The real magic here is the Modular Fire Control (MFC) unit. In this system, the MFC is the actual regulated firearm. Because the trigger group is the “gun,” you can swap it between:

  • Compact and full-sized PDW chassis

  • The AXR handgun line

  • Different frame sizes and configurations

This modularity is a massive win for shooters in restrictive states with pistol permits. You buy the one regulated part, and then you can “go completely crazy” with different frames and accessories without needing more permits.

Infinite Configurations

PSA showed off several prototype configurations to demonstrate how deep the customization goes:

  • Tower Options: Choose between long front towers with pic rails or minimalistic, lightweight setups.

  • Controls: Set it up with dual charging handles or a single side.

  • Magazine Compatibility: There are models for standard Glock magazines and a US model specifically for Sig P320 magazines.

  • Suppressor Ready: The platform is compatible with suppressors and blast cans right out of the box.

When Can You Get It?

Right now, these are in the prototype and concept stage. PSA brought them to SHOT Show to show the public exactly what they’re working on, but they still need to clear final testing phases before they hit the shelves. PSA plans to sell these both as complete firearms and as standalone Fire Control units so you can build your own.

Stay tuned to SlavGuns.com for more updates as these move closer to production!
