Gen 6 Glock 17: Booth First Shots & What’s New

This is a booth / first-shots look at the Gen 6 Glock — not a full range T&E or carry evaluation. Specs and impressions come from what was said and shown on camera.

Channel fans and family — Gen 6 Glock is here, and I got hands on a Glock 17 with a few first rounds downrange. New frame, new texture, optics-ready from the jump, and it still shoots like… well, a Glock.

What’s new on Gen 6

On camera this was the Gen 6 Glock 17 in 9mm. Quick hits from the booth walkaround:

  • Completely different frame vs prior gens
  • New stippling / texturing — not as aggressive as the old RTF, but it works
  • Nice undercut on the trigger guard
  • More serrations
  • A little thumb rest built into the frame
  • Optics ready out of the box

I ran it the old-timer way for first shots — straight iron pistol sights — even though it’s optics-ready. Wanted the raw feel before stacking a red dot.

First shots

Booth live-fire, not a 500-round abuse test. Impressions from those first rounds:

  • Shoots like a Glock — familiar, predictable
  • Very controllable
  • Texture felt good without going full cheese-grater like old RTF

I’ll do a fuller booth tour elsewhere; this clip is the “here it is, first shots” energy for Squat Squad.

Who it’s for

Anyone watching Gen 6 rumors turn into metal — duty, range, or CCW-curious 17 fans who want the new frame and optics cut without waiting for aftermarket. This write-up is first impressions only; treat it as a booth sniff test, not a buy/don’t-buy bible.

Keep squatting.
