Channel fans and family — if you’re looking for a flashlight to mount on a PDW, you want something rugged in a compact frame, solid output, and easy day-to-day features… without spending Surefire money. Here’s my deep dive on the Olight Odin Mini — features, range time on a Ruger PC Charger, and night beam comparisons. This is a hands-on review / longer-term first impressions (~2 months on the light when filmed), not a booth clip and not a Short.
T&E note: On tape I’d already been running this light for almost two months, mainly to stress the mounting system — including a hot-gun day with the light left on through roughly 500 rounds. Specs and street pricing move; verify current Olight / dealer listings before you buy.

What the Odin Mini is
The Odin Mini is the compact baby brother to Olight’s full-size Odin weapon-mounted light — about one inch shorter, and roughly in the same size class as the everyday-carry Warrior Mini. It’s meant to live on a firearm with either the included M-LOK quick-release mount, or a separately purchased Picatinny adapter (the style that shipped with the bigger Odin).
I tested both a limited-edition gray unit and a regular black finish over those months. Fit and finish felt solid; threads were smooth, with an O-ring at the base.
Output, modes, and runtime (as filmed)
Two modes on the end-cap switch:
- High: max about 1,250 lumens, throw called out to 240 meters, up to about 14,400 candela. Quick full press = on high; press-and-hold = momentary. Total high-mode runtime called out at about 70 minutes, stepping down (as filmed): ~6 min at 1,250 → ~11 min at 900 → ~39 min at 700 → a final ~14 min at 200 lumens once the cell is drained.
- Low: half-press for on / half-press-hold for momentary (takes a little practice). About 200 lumens, ~2,300 candela, up to about 5 hours, throw up to roughly 97 meters.
Inside: a rechargeable cell rated about 2,040 mAh at 3.6 V. Sealed up properly, Olight rates it IPX8 — submersion to about 2 meters (they didn’t specify duration on tape).
Magnetic charge + pressure switch
One of the reasons I’ve stuck with Olight gear: the magnetic charging lead that snaps to the light and plugs into USB / a wall brick. Newer connectors on tape supported roughly 1 / 1.5 / 2 amp charge rates.
In the box you also get a magnetic pressure switch that locks onto the tail with a sliding ring — compatible with the Odin and Warrior X lines. Interestingly it will also hold on a Warrior Mini via magnet alone, but without the mechanical lock.

Range day + night comparisons
Shooting footage was from mount testing on a scorching-hot Ruger PC Charger — light left on the whole time. Targets around 15 yards; plate rack roughly 35–40 yards.
Night backyard test landmarks (as filmed): shed ~40 yd, chicken coop ~80 yd, neighbor shed ~101 yd, downhill street bottom ~300 yd. Side-by-sides vs familiar Olights (S1R Baton, Warrior Mini, Warrior Pro, Warrior Turbo / high-candela throwers). Takeaways from that session:
- Odin Mini on high easily painted the shed/coop/100-yd shed with a usable spotlight beam.
- Compared with the Warrior Mini, the Mini looked a bit tighter / more throw-oriented; color temperature differed (Mini cooler on my samples).
- Bigger Warrior Pro / Turbo throwers clearly out-reach it at 300 yd — as expected. Odin Mini is a tactical / weapon beam, not a 1,000-meter thrower.
Bottom line
Olight keeps doing what they do: capable prosumer lights at approachable prices. Is the Odin Mini as battle-proven-rugged as a Surefire? On tape I said probably not — and it’s also roughly half the price conversation. For home-defense / PDW work it made a lot of sense. Looking for a proven battlefield light? Look elsewhere. That doesn’t mean this one will fail — mine survived numerous drops over those two months — it just hadn’t earned “battlefield proven” status yet when I filmed.
