Booth / first look: Shot Show 2023 walkthrough with Adam from Holosun — not a range T&E or owned long-term review. Specs, pricing, and availability are as taped (Q2 2023 launch window) and may have moved; verify current info before you buy.
Channel fans and family — if you drop a new pistol that isn’t optics-ready, good luck selling it. Red dots went from “help for poor iron-sight eyes” to default furniture on almost everything with a slide. At Shot Show 2023 I stopped by Holosun with Adam to walk the new Q2 optics: competition glass, more SCS fits, a fully enclosed SCS, and a solar rifle/offset sight.

507 Comp — giant window, RMR footprint
First up on the table: the 507 Comp (competition). Adam walked an RMR footprint with a window he called significantly larger than the STS-class windows a lot of shooters already know — the pitch being competition wants you to see everything, not hunt a tiny glass hole.
New competition reticle package on tape:
- 2 MOA dot
- 8 MOA ring
- 20 MOA ring
- 32 MOA ring
Hold the minus button and cycle almost any combination of those. Availability called out around end of Q2, with a booth price point in the ~$370–$400 neighborhood (2023 show floor — shop today’s tags).
SCS expands: Walther PDP + HK VP9
The SCS story most people already know: optic cut for a specific gun, mounts straight to the slide (no plate stack), sits low enough to keep stock iron sights in play, and runs an internal battery topped up by the solar panel — no external battery tray. Until this booth it was mainly Glock MOS and S&W M&P 2.0. Adam said they’re expanding to Walther PDP and HK VP9, bringing the SCS lineup to four gun-specific options.
On longevity: a couple hours of charge for months of runtime, a charge limiter so the cell isn’t cooked at 100% the way phones often are, and usable life talked about in the 8–10 year range with ambient light still helping. Single button (rear or side depending on model) handles power and reticle changes. Reticle system called out as MRS — multi-reticle: dot, circle, or circle-dot.
Why skip plates? Adam’s take: co-witness / stock irons stay usable if the emitter gets mudded or the optic goes dark, and armorers don’t have to swap plates and tall sights just to run a red dot. MOS and M&P 2.0 already on market at taping; HK and Walther targeted for end of Q2, roughly ~$350 give-or-take for that SCS class on the booth talk.
SCS enclosed (SCS-320) — Delta Point Pro footprint
Big ask finally answered on camera: take the SCS idea and fully enclose it — rear pane of glass, nitrogen purged, solar still on top charging the internal battery, single-button design. Footprint: Delta Point Pro (DPP), because getting that second pane in pushes the screws farther back than an open SCS.
Adam’s use cases: snow clogging an emitter (Ohio winter energy), dirt in Arizona / Texas / “dusty Sam” country, and duty / carry shooters who want a wipe-and-go sealed emitter. Open SCS still fine for most of us; the enclosed unit is the upgrade when you’ve seen that failure mode. Booth pricing around ~$400, also end of Q2 — premium feature set, premium-ish tag.
SCRS — Solar Charging Rifle Sight
Looks small, does a big job. The SCRS (Solar Charging Rifle Sight) sits on the 509 footprint, ships with Holosun’s own lightweight cutout mount, and can live as a pistol optic or — Adam’s stronger pitch — as a rifle offset or on a PCC / lightweight carbine. No external battery; solar on top charges an internal capacitor. Choose MRS or a 2 MOA dot-only, in red or green, with full manual brightness control.
If your slide is already cut 509, this can still go there; if you run a PDP-class dedicated SCS, you’d usually stay on that path. Recoil / caliber: Adam said they’ve been putting these on almost everything — and reminded folks pistol slides are some of the most violent cycling you’ll ask a micro optic to survive.
Solar + sealed cells — the recurring theme
Across the table the through-line is the same problem Holosun keeps trying to kill: dead batteries out of the bag, or mid-match. Adam’s framing — buy glass that lasts years and charges itself — is why solar / internal packs keep showing up on more SKUs. For more product pages and current release notes, he pointed people at Holosun’s site and socials as they rolled the Q2 story out after the show.
Treat this as a 2023 Shot Show first look at the Q2 lineup (507 Comp, SCS PDP/VP9, enclosed SCS-320, SCRS). Confirm today’s configs and street pricing before you budget.
Keep squatting.
