Booth / first look: Shot Show 2023 walkthrough with Joshua from Fix-It Sticks on their new Sig Sauer pistol kit and master pistol armorer’s kit — not a range T&E or long-term owned review. At Shot Show 2023 I sat down with Joshua again to walk two new kits: a Sig Sauer compact pistol kit and a bigger master pistol armorer’s kit.

Sig Sauer compact pistol kit — platform-specific, range-bag sized
Josh’s pitch: Fix-It Sticks does both platform-specific kits and more generic ones. On the Sig side they already had a kit cultivated with engineers on the MCX / MPX rifle platforms (popular with MCX and Spear owners). The new kit is the pistol counterpart — geared for P320 / M17 / M18, P365 family, and legacy Sig pistols in the P22x lane (think 226 / 229-class), not a duplicate of the rifle kit.
What’s packed in, as taped at the booth:
- All-in-one torque limiter called out for Romeo optics — booth talk put the window around 6–25 in-lb (Josh pointed people at the Romeo booklet for the exact re-torque interval; memory on tape was in the ~300–500 round ballpark)
- E2 slide punch for legacy guns
- T10 access for M17 work from the bottom of the slide
- Standard punches and roll-pin punches
- Notched spring-bar / T-pin style tools — Josh said Sig armorer kits usually push a T-pin for 320 / 365 trigger work, and on 320s you push the mag catch over and use a sized hole in the back to remove it
- Non-marring battery-door tool
- Integrated 8-32 threaded adapter for cleaning brushes / picks
- Curated bit assortment, magnetic brass hammer head / brass rods, and a full ratcheting T-handle
Booth MSRP: $184. The use case Josh and I kept coming back to: you’re at the range, something fails, and driving home for tools can cost as much as the kit in gas. Optics-ready carry / defensive pistols especially — re-torque the optic to spec so you’re not guessing when that gun leaves the bag.
Right tool, right job — why specialty bits matter
A T15 is a T15, and Josh was honest that generic bits exist — but Fix-It Sticks bits are built for hard use (military-contract talk on tape), and the specialty bits are what Sig recommends for those platforms. Hollow-ground gunsmithing bits are about not camming out, stripping screws, or buggering slides. Same story with torque: Josh called out low values on Romeo shroud screws (T6-class / low inch-pounds on tape) — over-crank and you can shear a screw and send the optic back to Sig. Right tool beats “close enough.”
Master pistol armorer’s kit — field kit shrunk for pistol work
Last year’s field armorer’s kit was the big mobile-gunsmith package. For 2023 they took that concept, shrunk it, and merged the compact pistol kit idea with last year’s Glock-specific kit and the new Sig pistol kit into a master pistol armorer’s kit.
Highlights from the booth walk:
- Takedown ratcheting T-handle with removable brass hammer head and punch holder
- Same style torque limiter as the compact kit
- Brass non-marring punches, steel punches, and a roll-pin starter
- Side adjuster for two-pin sights (Aimpoint-style / similar Holosun-class talk on tape)
- Non-marring battery-door tool, curated Torx / Allen bits, brush, and a full-size grip-screw bit
- Polymer armorer’s bench block — rubberized / non-marring; flip it and it’s channeled for compact and full-size slides so you can mount an optic hands-free
- Velcro’d parts tray plus a magnetic section so small parts don’t vanish off a range bench
